Corrosion? What kind od oil you were trying to burn? Corrosion means you had lots and lots of water in your fuel. No wonder your unit failed. I actually hear a lot of good things about this burner from other people who have it for more then a year now... If you still like the idea of waste oil as fuel see materials on line about proper prep. steps before you actually try burning it.

Just a FYI for anyone thinking of waste oil to heat your home . NFPA 31 is the
standard adopted by most towns , cities , and states that governs the
installation of oil burning equipment ... Chapter 4 , 5.2 (1) only allows
for the installation of crankcase oil or used oil heating equipment in commercial or industrial occupancies.....

Hi again, Just a quick note to let you know I have bought a Omni burner which is UL listed and comes with a guarantee and is almost half of the Ampro burner. They told me to return it for a full refund if this unit does not work for any reason. The UL listing means it has gone through rigorous testing and is going to work unlike the Ampro waste oil burner. Call me if you want to hear about this great burner!! 207-576-4330 thanks.

My husband and I bought this unit 3 months ago. We actually burn waste motor oil but we also tried waste vegetable oil. With both fuels the burner we got (model 980-A) works great! We reasearched how to properly prepare fuels. Water causes all kind of problems including corrosion and must be removed... It is a rather cheap trade off vs spending money for #2 heating oil. There are all kinds of materials available in the Internet about how to properly deal with waste oils to be used as fuel.

who said anything about water? I have tried straight vegetable oil from the container and it still did not work. Also this unit was running all the time. There was not enough time to build up the water you are talking about. So try again. I ahve looked at everything from draft to storage. thanks
