  • "The other way"...well, China has the opportunity to do it right. Look at what we've done and learn from our mistakes. Invest in sustainable energy. Build a public transportation system second to none. Keep thier cities liveable. Add green spaces in them and plan for thier growth. Reward families that only have one child (keeping pop down is important for ALL of us, we should d it here as well).

  • My girlfriend is chinese and is over in China visiting for the next 6 weeks, so it's been very interesting seeing China and learning a little about it this way. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to go with her next year.

  • after traveling all over china , i can say i agree china is a giant rising , , its an orderly society based on 1000s of years of custom , yet is stepping fast into the 21st century , its economic capitalism makes it an industrial powerhouse , its goverment is second to none on infrastructure planning and projects , the sheer scale and pace of development in all areas , gov & private , is staggering , we may to need learn to speak chinese,

  • AND- while America teaches "Political correctness" China teaches real math, science, and history. Most of the students learn English as well as Chinese while the USA teaches Spanish as a first language. They are building 2 coal power plants per week, and we have not built a power plant in decades because of environmentalists.

The electric car needs power to run, and that power MUST come from Power Plants but the cleanest plants are Nukes and we have "Anti Nukes too! Enviro Propaganda.

  • nice opinion.

  • First, there is NO poverty in the USA compared to other countries. We are fat, happy and have two TVs and more than one car. So ignore anyone who says, "America's Poor".Next, China is going through an industrial revolution. It has afforded it's people so many opportunities that we can not deny them that.

Dirty air is one thing but please forget the claim that there is Global warming caused by it. Each rain cleans the air that stays there, and the rest heads over the ocan and is scrubed clean.

  • However, I should admit, I think a unified South Korea could really compete well with China (especially as far as value added goods) because they are committed to expanding in a technologically and environmentally first-class way. With the cheap labor from North Korea, I see the eventual collapse of the DPRK regime as the furtherance of East Asia as the dominant economical region in the world.

  • They might overtake the USA as the world's biggest polluter, but per capita, they will never beat us. A lot of businesses, for example, turn off the lights at night and most of the average people do their part to be environmentally friendly. Compare this to the average American's startling per capita production of trash and waste.

They already put more effort in their their jobs than we do; imagine once the education system really ramps up... we'll see them close the productivity gap as well.

  • someone needs to study more about the stages of socialism. And gay bars are bad?!...

  • Dammit, I must've missed it.

  • yeah..they should do it the other way, and let the developed countries keep doing it this way.

any suggestions or tips about the other way?
