Call me a conspiracy theorist but I still think that since EVERYBODY wanted Fantasia to win they fixed it to where Diana would mess up on this song, because the week prior to that she NAILED this performance.

she might have lost it to fantasia at 1:39-1:41 where it is horribly off pitch. she is a good singer with a powerful voice but i've noticed she will, singing live, make at least 1 pitchy mistake like this per performance, which is probably what locked it up for fantasia

Diana was way better than Fantasia NO QUESTION! and even though she didn't win, she still is an awesome singer, remember you don't have to win this show to be a singer, look at how many people didn't win and still have careers. :)

I didn't think that her version of this was that bad, yeah she had a little trouble at some parts, but it still was good! This is a tough song to sing, and I think she did a great job! I wish more singers would do this type of music nowadays, we need more music that is relaxing and romantic! that is why I love the 70's music, it was so relaxing.
