Traditional Aromatic Yule Logs:
As children, a very hospitable and creative neighbor- Mrs. Dickerson- taught us how to collect materials to make aromatic traditional Yule logs, The kind of logs you place on the fire at the end of the Holiday Season and burn for good fortune in the coming new year. Were making them again this Christmas with the same combination of storm fallen eucalyptus bark, traditional evergreen boughs, cedar, bay and with the addition of rosemary from my Sisters garden in Sonoma. You can place one in a special place and invite family and friends to write a small note with a wish for the future on it and place the wish notes in a bowl throughout the twelve days of Christmas. When you are ready to burn your log, clip off the decorative ribbons and read the notes once again before tucking them into the bark of the log- calling to mind your power of intention for those you hold dear. Then place the log on a crackling fire and enjoy the fragrant rising up of your wish log as your hopes and dreams float off into the night sky in a sweet offering to the Maker.
