Recorded at the try out on 13th December, after considerable restoration work was done in the tower, these bells are heard ringing out for the first time in 45 years.

  • The treble didn't have a stay in the first place, hence the ringer was being careful not to overpull at the outset.

  • @kernowoggie Yes, they do sound nice!!

Now all they need is sa complete rehang...

  • Poor old bugger there on the very start nearly had a stay broken there!

  • They look hard work and remind of the days when I used to live in London and the band I used to ring with would sometimes ring at St Stephens, Hampstead. They were also a 10 and the church was already closed for services when I rang there in the 1970's. It was very close to a hospital I recall. Hampstead were heavier but were also a challenge and were not very forgiving. Nice to hear these again, they don't sound half bad!

  • wow, they definatly look hard going and sound pretty loud!

  • must have been a wonderful experience to have been there after so long a silence! thanks for sharing.

  • Some good old Mears. Can't beat it!!

  • These look very hard going. I spy Michael Royalton-Kisch making the 2nd look easy though!
