This is my 1985 Chevrolet Blazer K5 4x4 after the new engine was installed. The rebuilt engine consists of a 1979 Block with 1997 Vortec Heads. The engine has been bored .030 over and has speed pro flat top CNC machined pistons. The heads are 64cc combustion chambers with 2.02/1.60 valves that have been knife edged by a local machine shop. I mathmatically calculated the compression ration at 10.37:1 but this is an "on paper" estimate. I could have cc'd everything but it didn't need to be that precise. I knew that I wanted to be over 9.5 to one, and I also knew a previous engine experienced a lot of detonation on pump gas at 10.89 to one. The poor quallity ethanol spoiled fuel we have made my decision on running a lower compression ratio. The primary goal of this engine build was to feature an engine with a pro-street, or mudbogger sound, with longevity experienced on the daily drive. Thanks for taking a look at another Altizer custom engine build. *** video by: Cameron Altizer ***

  • The cam is a PBM .488 lift. I'm not sure of the duration but I think it was something like 234 degrees at 50 thousandths.
