I really want to get into this! Aquaponics is the future!

Has anybody done any research into the nutritional value of the food . Will be helpful

This vid reminds me why I love Australians. Lol. And I'm not even an Australian.

The one thing I'm wary about is if this system provides the plants with all their nutrients. They might look healthy but have very low nutrient density. A refractometer can measure that I hear

@Koyukonn Yes I hear that many aquaponicists use refractometers - as door jams!

hmm, I found the answer through google. Nothing bad on refractometers though. I assume it's just something you don't like to practice but it seems to be quite a common instrument for agriculture...

@Koyukonn You may be correct. We haven't seen much scientific evidence to support the belief that a refractometer can tell you much about 'nutritionally dense food." I have seen food grown in excellent organic and microbe rich soil also score poorly in Brix tests. Lets say the Jury is still out on this one. Any scientific studies or evidence on Brix tests out there that people can point to?

I really like Murray Hallam straight talk about aquaponics. One question I live in the tropics with an adverage temp 86 degrees and lots of sun. I notice you have plastic
overhead I think I would need a black netting type cloth overhead ,do you think this would be enough sunlight to grow plants .

@bernie018 Yes black netting will work if it's not too fine a weave. It will also allow the air flow around your plants and keep them cool.
