The automaton can be a part of a small clock. It dates from the period 1810 up to 1820 , not 1839. Hendrik Strengers, hekaton@hetnet.nl

Yep it lost it's tune. I can see the cylinder as it's shaped like a tank's wheel.

The pins seem to indicate a rise and fall up and down the scale rather than a tune.
