My cousin converted to the so called mainstream Mormonism aka LDS. He was a member for over 20 years. Once he left, he admitted to me that many members of the LDS also practiced polygamy in extreme secrecy because they believe that, eventually, the LDS and the fundamentalists will be reunited once Jesus returns.My cousin, himself, was 'sealed' to two women other than his wife.However, he claimed there was no sexual relationship the other two women, but there would be when Jesus returned.

Religion is used to excuse many things. The law draws a line between what one believes and what one does, to protect individual human rights. Polygamy is illegal. It violates the rights of women . As far as the law is concerned, It's like believing is Santa Clause. It's perfectly OK as long as you don't bring Santa Clause home to live with. People use religion, history or anything else to justify their actions. They don't care as long as it works.

@eyeswideopen1993 My cousin told me that 'sealing' men to multiple women in the LDS is more prevalent we know.My cousin explained to me that many mainstream LDS elected officials live polygamy which is why they won't go after the fundamentalists.Many LDS members believe that the polygamy will be reinstated in the mainstream church again.Thats why many mainstream members never abandoned the practice.Recently more mainstream members have started practicing it.I have no reason to doubt him.
