@watertonrivers Yes and the hip rotation happens naturally once there has been weight transfered to the front foot. The way so many instructor are teaching hip rotation is wrong. The legs have to move first and rotate then the hips.Other wise you have a huge spin out.Even Tiger in his slomo in The Nike commercial is facing the ball maybe 10 degrees open then the hips fininish, ball gone.Don't get me wrong it starts fron the ground up but the shoulders and back seem to have been left out too often.
@secretogolf Yes you are so right...If you watch Moe Norman's swing, it is a hip slide and not a hip rotation until after impact. Now, I realize alot of pros have great athleticism when it comes to returning square, but the vast majority of them lift the right foot before impact and also spin the hips to quickly as well, which makes for a lot of difficulty staying on plane.
@watertonrivers I saw his swing on VI where you can slow it down and really tkae a great look at his die view impact. He faces the ball at impact and then turns his hips out.So many of the modern teachers are telling people you hit with your hips open and turning 45 degrees to the target.
@wedgemaster1960 agree 100 %.if anything his backswing is very natural, not caught up in positions.Still, it leaves him in the best natural position to just drop into the slot. Some players get so hung up on backswing they forget the downswing is the ultimate goal.He is also very connected in the takeaway.
you guys are looking at the wrong side of this swing...a back swing is important but not as important as "getting in the slot" on the downswing which Kenny does beautifully...go Kenny!
Terrible posture, crouches on the down swing, swing is off plane but has won heaps on the PGA tour. Go figure.

His swing is a bit weird but his tempo is excellent. He puts no effort into hitting the ball.

@secretogolf Not only does he get in the slot well but look at the anchored right foot. That is why he is so accurate!!
