Joe Walsh's 1973 classic Rocky Mountain Way, as performed by legendary guitarist Leslie West and a completely baked, but equally legendary Joe Walsh of Eagles fame. 1987.

This one is extremely rare.. one of the only times that dear friends Joe Walsh and Leslie West have shared the same stage together. Leslie was playing solid rhythm here.

  • Two of the greatest American guitarists on one stage.

  • @jonathan401 There is little doubt! Leslie West and Joe Walsh have without a doubt created some of the greatest guitar riffs/melodies in the history of rock n roll.

  • Not sure Walsh and West are great friends today.Leslie toured with Joe in 97' and something happened, leslie was "fired from the tour and sued Joe .Don't know what ever became of the case, but I'm guessing the friendship may have ended. By the time I saw a show on that tour, leslie was long gone, which was bad for me as I wanted to see West live, instead Big Blue Hearts out of San Francisco open the show in Hampton Beach,NH. Show was fantastic, nearing the end of the tour and the band was on fire.

  • Leslie West and his group Mountain have filed suit against Joe Walsh in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Bergen County. The suit alleges breach of contract by Walsh, who, according to court papers, contracted Mountain as his opening act for a summer tour. The papers go on to state that Walsh "maliciously and without cause breached the contracts made with plaintiff in that he fired plaintif" - Rolling Stone Magazine 1997. Wow I totally forgot about that!

  • Damn Depp, where'd you find this? Is this from the first Howard Stern TV show that never made it to air (I hear Leslie was the musical director for that), or is it from one of the Pay-Per-Views? Wow....West and Walsh together, trading licks....Fabulous score, Mr. Depper!!!

  • @gbrycki Yes Gbrycki, this is from that first show that never aired. There were 5 pilot episodes, all classic late 80s Howard Stern material. I felt he was at his sharpest and funniest during this period. A LOT can be said for Howard, Leslie West and Joe Walsh for keeping Rock n Roll alive during the 80s and 90s, where elsewhere the MTV generation pretty much destroyed it.

  • @depper DO YOU HAVE ANYMORE OF THESE OLD FOX PILOTS?

  • i don't know if JW was "baked" half the time that he's described to be and it might hurt him to be known as such. think ... it must be an absolute blast-out-of-body thing to be him. lol,i'm sure it was more the truth than any herb.

  • what is this crap of joe walsh of eagles fame! smokin joe was the jesse james of the freakin james gang!! had more hits while the freakin eagles were still in high school joe just made the eagles better!

  • this is my guitar there are many out there but this one is mine Pray!!!

  • saw joe at waverly beach in wisconsin (cheap dive) in 1969 the next day i went to viet nam love you joe!!!

  • @Fantwatstic his work with delay's/talkboxes/slide/humor have been influencing generations. plus he's one of the only guitarists i've seen to execute captain beefheart's 2nd commandment for the lead guitarist:

    2. Your guitar is not really a guitar

Your guitar is a divining rod. Use it to find spirits in the other world and bring them over.

Joe has that power (saw him about 5 years ago and he made it a happening) ... his lows are some of the lowest (80s era) but his highs are unmatched

  • @jazzermonk. Fair enough jazzer, you are right. As much as I dislike Joe Walsh no-one can escape the fact that he was right there in the thick of things back in the day and he has contributed massively to the playing and mastery of the electric guitfiddle.

  • @Fantwatstic this is Joe's "dark period" ... but joe will always be a legend and pioneer. To judge and ignore him because of this period is a mistake.
