  • All Jabiru 2200 and 3300 engine problems are fixed when Liquid Cooled Heads from Rotec Engineering of Mordialloc, Victoria, Australia are used in place of the standard Jab air-cooled heads. Add Rotec's Throttle Body Injection and you have as near to perfect an engine as you can get. The only thing that remains is for someone to design and market a PSRU for Jab engines.

btw, I an not associate with either Jabiru or Rotec in any way.

  • What kind or brand of turbos can be used in these engines???

  • have you ever run into any issues with carb icing during flying? i want o do this at some point to a car

  • No intercooler. Stock internals.

  • At 6.5 psi boost, do you have to use an intercooler? Are you using stock pistons.

Thanks for responding to all my questions.

  • As any other UL engine I have been using and working on all engines has theire pros and cons. Personally I like the UL260is best. Newest technology, great HP, injection and a clean lovley look. The rotax 912 and 914 has had many disasters the last few years here in Norway. Several cranks getting offset after only 350Hrs. Valve train breaking resaulting in total engine failure. Jabiru has also had theire happenings. Flywheels loosening, poor crankcase breathing etc. But all in all jab. is fine !

  • Do you like the Jabiru engine? Anything not to like about it? Thanks

  • Check my other videos for boost settings. I ran about 6,5psi. This is the earliest 65hp jab. I guess from the static rpm with the same prop as used on the newer 85hp that it made about 95-100hp. I would also guess I added up 7-10kg extra, but after removing carb heat box, bing carb, muffler and original pipes all in all I may have increased 3-5kg maximum. I easely passed the 622lbs regulation. I think I ended up with 272Kg.

  • Any idea what the weight penalty is with the turbo, including plumbing? What boost are you liking? Any estimate on torque increase?

    Thanks

  • mixture carb and IHI carbon seals turbo
