The whole point of this issue surely is that the US presents itself as the paradigm of decency and what should be aimed for in a society, and yet displays barely hidden barbarism in torturing innocents. As in - innocent until proven guilty. Its a complete disgrace.

Does that mean that you want to be like them? Anyway, my point was that innocent people who are tortured eventually make things up to get an end to the torture, which they know will otherwise never stop. I know that all of them aren't innocent, but it doesn't matter cos they have rights no matter what their crime is. And 9/11 wouldn't have happened if the American government weren't so goddamn paranoid declaring war against anyone they consider a threat instead of trying to start dialogue.

Torture is illegal by international law. The US was a signatory nation, and the US is not only supposed to not use torture, but is also supposed to investigate any allegation of torture. Bush and Cheny can no longer leave the country, for fear of being apprehended. If Obama doesnt prosecute these crimes, the EU will, probably starting a trial before the end of the year. Bush and Cheney will be in jail soon.
