This is the class review for the first of four lessons in The Jam Cellar's Roots & Offshoots series taught 4/6/10. Your instructors are Trendlyon Veal and Markus Smith.

DC Hand Dance is one of several vernacular jazz dances that developed at the end of the Big Band era. Variations on hand dance can be found in Chicago, the Carolinas, Texas, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, New York, and even Australia and New Zealand.

The Jam Cellar is a world-reknowned weekly swing dance party held in a posh, turn of the century mansion in Northwest Washington, DC on Tuesday nights.
