Merle Oberon is absolutely radiant in NIGHT IN PARADISE, a silly and somewhat confusing historical fantasy produced by Universal Pictures in 1946 with a then-massive budget of $1.6 million and filmed in glorious Technicolor. Since my print of this rare film is of only acceptable quality, I've chosen to merely upload highlights of Merle's scenes as the fictional Princess Delarai of Persia, who wears lavish and skimpy exotic costumes that probably went over the heads of the domineering Production Code in Hollywood. Turhan Bey costars as the ancient Greek storyteller and philosopher Aesop (ca. 620-564 BC). Directed by Arthur Lubin.

  • Well, thank you for uploding only parts of it! It's like showing food to a hungry man and telling him to be content with aroma only.

  • Sorry about that. Not only is the film's image and sound quality of only average quality, I wouldn't want my account to be deleted for giving the hungry man all the food, so to speak.

  • What a great costume Merle is wearing! She does look very exotic and beautiful. I'm surprised at how well she pulls off cute and witty!

  • You should see a dye-transfer Technicolor print of this sometime if you ever can. Silly story or not, it'll make your jaw drop.

  • I have been looking for this movie for many years...Turhan Bey and Merle Oberon were favorites of mine...I was able to copy the movie years ago..commercials and all...wish a DVD would be issued...it is silly and corny, but great for those of us who love this stuff...the ending is great!!

  • This is so totally ridiculous...

Sorry, Peter for jumping at you like that. The movie seems very interesting and I couldn't find it anywhere else to watch the missing episodes. I am afraid I let my temper get the better of me. Thank you for your reply, I wouldn't want your account suspended. Have a great day.
