As far as affortable stuff, I really like the Penn Slammers 260 or bigger. They run $129. I also love the Penn Slammer rods in 7 foot medium action for about $29. They should last forever. Ugly sticks are OK, but have NO back bone. A good rod should be stiff at the lower half of the rod, and limber at the top 2-3 feet. Ugly Sticks flex all the way through the reel seat-NO GOOD! I use Penn rods in all of the videos, except for the light line Striper, that is a Lamiglass.
