This is a really tough aria. Its neither for a lyric or even dramatic to bass-baritone. It really requires a very versitile singer.
HE lives in the DFW area of texas now

Its interesting how well he manages to communicate such subtle and complicated points in English without speaking it especially well. I suppose this is why he says 'you must watch me' so he can use his hands and facial expressions as well. Its odd that he was so good a these thinsg in real life but still not much of an actor on stage, isn't it?

Who is that student?

Brian Schexnayder. I may have spelled that wrong. He was at the Met for years. I was first exposed to him through the '83centennial gala. He was in the Lucia sextet (Chi mi frena).

I'm not a fan of his. Just not my taste.
