DONOR OPIUM, the impact of international aid to Palestine

For twenty years now the international donor community has financially supported Palestinian institution-building, infrastructure development, the economy, public employees' salaries, health and education, social welfare, the police, electricity production, private credit guarantees, and the bigger part of the civil society organizations with regards to democracy promotion, human rights, tolerance, women rights etc.

Peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state have been the declared goals of all the support. But actual results are the fragmentation and pacification of the Palestinian people.

This documentary film, directed by Mariam Shahin and George Azar, and funded by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, features Palestinian criticism of this externally funded "development".

Actualy it's a combination of problems.The Israeli military is abusing there power and the Israeli government always disregards President Obamas orders to stop building settlements on Palestinian soil and they just continue to always ignore President Obamas orders because they know that the US government will always support them and never help the Palestinians and they will turn a blind eye as the Israeli military commits there war crimes.I think the Israeli military is worse then Hitlers Nazis.

@Felafel20 Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu is making things worse for the Palestinian people because after President Obama ordered him to stop building settlements on Palestinian territory he disregarded his orders because the Israeli government told Benjamin Netanyahu to not listen to President Obama and to continue to occupy more land in the West Bank and have the Israeli soldiers gaurd the construction workers so they could build more settlements on Palestinian land.Netanyahu is the problem.

@Felafel20 Israeli soldiers abusing there power is the main problem.The Israeli soldiers are given over 1 billion dollars a month by US government wich is supposed to go to Israeli economic aid but it's realy all mostly going to the Israeli Military Deffense,The Israeli military is worse then Hamas because there killing not just Palestinian civilians but also Americans that are helping the Palestinians with the wounded and these Americans are Human Rights Activists.

excellent video, exact explanations of at one hand the occupation and imposed interdiction of free movement and work and on the other hand the international aid, which can not succeed in any developement of the Palestinian society. It is an unbearable situation for the Palestinians.

The film director should have included opinions and input of individuals who work for Int'l development organizations as well as reps from the donor community. In that sense, the film is biased in my view and is misleading too. Ironically the video itself is funded by one of the foreign donors. As much as I agree with many things said in the film, the video has disregarded many important and relevant issues related to in'l aid and development. So the vide is shortsighted in my view.

Clip was spot on, foreign aid rarely works anywhere in the world, but I could not help enjoy the irony of the clip being financed by the Rosa Luxemburg foundation....:)
