This setting of psalm 113 brought tears to our eyes while choosing the artwork for this video. It is so easy to step over or around the poor, hungry and homeless. They are always with us but we may chose to make them invisible. Jesus lifted up the poor and promised them his kingdom. We have made a commitment to open our eyes and our hearts and hopefully you will, too.
"Then the righteous will answer him, Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in? Or needing clothes and clothes you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The king will reply I tell you the truth whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers of mine you did to me." (Matthew 25: 37-40)
If there is a poor man among you, one of your brothers, in any of the towns of the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand to your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and generously lend him sufficient for his need in whatever he lacks. (Deut. 15:7)
This piece of music is appropriate for use as a liturgical psalm setting with congregational responses. This psalm is in pre-release and is available by request by emailing support@unitedcatholicartists.org. The brand new complete collection of seasonal psalms, performed by Belamore, is available now at UnitedCatholicArtists.org. All psalms are available individually or as a collection with complete sheet music arrangements and reference recordings and are downloadable upon purchase. We do not believe in altering the lectionary text. The psalm text is most beautiful and liturgically appropriate when sung as set forth in the lectionary. Please feel free to inquire about psalms not yet available on the website by emailing support@unitedcatholicartists.org.
