Molly Ivins's untimely death on January 31, 2007 shook all of us who embraced her irrepressibly optimistic but commensensically critical worldview--delivered with a down-home compassion, humor and depth of understanding that is rare today. She is greatly missed. But true to who she was, she left a lifelong legacy of speeches and written works that will continue to inform and inspire us for many years to come. Here is a collage of photos of Molly from the last couple of decades of her life--including some candidly stark, yet still movingly beautiful shots of her as she courageously and unselfconsciously simply continued on while in the throes of cancer. Here she models the role that the media should play, and her hopes for a return to government of and by the people. Pragmatic and firmly grounded in reality, she nonetheless reminds us as Americans of the great potential we have if only we embrace the freedoms that are given us--that working together, real change is possible. What an inspiring woman, and what an inspiring message....
