The Jonathan Hock documentary "Through the Fire" tracks the Coney Island product's evolution from high school phenom to NBA lottery pick. Along the way, Telfair contemplates a scholarship offer from Rick Pitino at the University of Louisville, struggles with the violence of his Brooklyn neighborhood and consumes himself with the desire to get his family out of the projects.

Having seen cousin and NBA star Stephon Marbury make it, Telfair knows big league dreams are within reach. However, Telfair's greatest source of inspiration is his older brother Jamel Thomas, who serves as a cautionary tale of just how elusive an NBA career can be.

  • i am 29, white, from europe, built like a tank, nobody fucks with me........ but, lemme tell you, i cried watching this. thats some emotional stuff right there. Amazing documentary, real nice watching bassy and his family working for their dream, and then making it! People need to stop talking ish about this guy, cause like 99% never worked this hard to achieve their goals. Plus, this black-white racial nonsense has to stop. I didnt care bout bassy before but this makes me respect him.... peace!

  • God bless him

  • I mean yeah hes not as good now and hes nowhere to be found I think he should of went to college too...but look he made it to the NBA and proved all the critics wrong when everyone doubted him! This documentary is one of the most motivational things I've ever seen in a long time.

  • Sellout he should went to college first he woulda been way better now look at him....

  • fuk i was in near tears when he got drafted, that was amazing

  • if tears didn't well up in your eyes after seeing his family's reaction, you have no soul. I still think he should have went to college, but it's easy for me to say that after the fact. Telfair thought he had a chance to make that impact and took it. He may not be the all star some people wished he would be, but he made it regardless.

  • omg steven a smith on tv at 3:23 lol

  • I'm glad that he made it...but I hate to see people spending money before they make it....

  • Jamel is a good brother. I know if I went 4 years in college, got my degree, led the best basketball conference in the country in scoring and didn't get drafted, but my little brother, who's 6 inches shorter than me and can't shoot like me got drafted in the first round, I'd me the most jealous nigga in the world

  • wow this is great, coney island all day,yea he isnt what ppl thought would be (meaning the ppl who saw em ball in hs and all that)but at least he made it,how many ppl can say that,i wanna be one of those ppl that can make it to the pros

  • My eyes Got a Lil Watery!
