I'm gonna try to make a sugar free version of this if I can find sugar free corn syrup. My mom's a diabetic and can't eat the regular. :(

@nasoo777 you can use white sugar, white corn syruo, honey ..... and as yoy wish. this is an old recipe and was made before sugar was introduced to american.

@iTzMeThoDz it all depends on how long a group has to occupy and settle a land to be called natives. What we call Native Americans today actually emigrated from Asia between 12-25,000 years ago. So, once again, we all come from somehwere else. It's just that Native Americans roots run the deepest.
But so what? Let's all eat some good ol pecan pie with a scope of vanilla ice cream.
