Mark Kijeck is a Joliet West High School Student staging an elaborate production of "Noises Off" by Michael Frayn. Having gathered a number of local sponsors in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois, Mark who is producer and Mike Sansone, who is directing and performing in the show, have accumulated a $12,000 dollar budget to produce this show and make a wish for eleven year old Emma come true. Mark shared a few of his thoughts about the show and his experiences in producing theatre. Also included are some excerpts from a recent dress rehearsal.

  • wow u guys did a good job to make the stage ? were doin this play and im kinda confuse how r we gonna do the setup ... btw anybody can help me on how poppy and brooke act like

  • My friend Doug designed this particular set but he had the funding and the space to pull off this monstrosity. I was in a production of this before that had very little funding in a much smaller theatre but we pulled it off. That set came apart in three pieces and had to be rotated separately. So it really depends on your resources. And not sure what you mean about poppy and brooke???

  • And I was expecting to win myself an Academy Award. Oh my how my dreams have been dashed forever.

  • Excellent -- it looks like you guys put on an amazing performance. And thank you for giving proceeds to a good cause. My high school did a one-act version for UIL, and I played Gary/Roger. Such wonderful times!

  • if i remember correctly...i bought them from walmart...just big fake fishing lures. i washed them to get the fish bait stuff off. took like 10 bags of them haha

  • hi quick question, how did you guys get sardines...what did you use?

  • God i miss you all i wish i could go back to help you all out again, i had a great time and helping emma was so much fun

  • this had nothing to do with the school tho...

this was me and mark not liking the way the theatre at are school was ran..much like yourself..and then taking it upon ourselves to make the most amazing production we could.

so if you had enough drive and passion..you guys could have done it too.

  • wow you guys are amazing. i wish the school i graduated from last year would get this involved with drama.

  • I didn't get to see this, so sad

  • I cried (missing the good ol' days again, or grapefruit juice got in me eyeball) I scoffed (our humanesque ability to make something focused a blown-up porportion) I laughed (as i scowled and found pure jolly-jam) and finally, I blushed (the clip got all-madcap-Kubrick in the end) A nod, at least, a nomination, at best. May I express my love here for the editor? and his best girl? Well I do.
