106: A Young Person's Guide To Politics (Appendix A) - Ron Paul, The Final Fantasy

Over two years ago, we discussed the futility and the dangers associated with believing in the possibility government solutions to government problems. Today, there are two growing movements that may lure young people into the cage match of political participation.

Critical Thinking Question: How are we going to get all of the corruption, and abuse, and predation out of our government? Followed by some other questions that make equally as much sense (none).

Topic: Stephanie Murphy and George Mandrik join me to discuss their experiences and lessons learned from the 2008 Ron Paul Presidential Campaign. We also ruminate on what motivates people to participate in politics in the first place.

  • Really, we know that none of these wars are about morals, so moral arguments are not relevant to them. The real arguments are strategic and we know that these wars are strategically designed to benefit certain groups of people: the pirate class which control the country, the fascists. Government is force and only responds in it's own language. It will always exist.

  • Ron Paul did not say he was going to fire the military. The military is a problem that already exists and has to be dealt with. We have to bring home the troops so that we are not fighting meaningless draining wars at the behest of world governments or rich people. It does not mean that conflicts are always not useful to the majority Americans. We need oil and resources and we also need strategic alliances. We need ways to deal with large groups of people who only know how to live off the gov.

  • Just because you lose doesn't mean your cause wasn't worth fighting for. A lot of times it means you have to fight harder. The whole point of libertarianism is that the government is not perfect and cannot be made to be.
