Lt. Yasir Abbas, First Officer To Engage Terrorists At PNS Mehran

As terrorist approached three parked P3-C Orion aircraft parked on PNS Mehran, Karachi the leader of the Rapid Response Team on base, Lt. Yasir Abbasi was in a conference call with his parents. When he heard the explosion he terminated the call.

He arrived on the scene and engaged the terrorists, who would have gone on to destroy the whole lot. Lt. Yasir received a fatal bullet injury in his chest and received shahadat. Interior Minister, Rehman Malik has said that he would recommend Sitara-e-Basalat for him.

These are the scenes at his home, the morning after, when the sad news of his death reached his parents. His father is a serving Colonel in the Pakistan Army, Jaffar Abbas.

Lt. Yasir was engaged and set to marry in 4 months time. May God grant his family the patience and strength to bear this loss and find a place for him in Jannat-ul-Firdaus. Ameen.
