Salwa kingdom is grouped among the western kingdoms in the epic Mahabharata, close to Madra Kingdom. Martikavati is mentioned as its capital. The famous prince Satyavan was from Salwa. He married the Madra princess, Savitri, the daughter of Madra king Aswapati. The history of Satyavan and Savitri is immortalised in Mahabharata with 7 chapters 3:291 to 3:297 dedicated to it. If people read this epic in school in greater detail, it could reinforce the idea of being Indian in young minds but alas.

The northern & western kingdoms identified as Maratha or Rajputana were in that sense much more recent, but they all came from the same stock as the rest of the nation. They were not outsiders as some of our communist, pseudo-secular historians would have us believe. They were valiant descendants of the mighty Rashtrakutas, Pariharas & Bhojas (Avanti, Ujjaina etc) & the kingdoms of Madra, Trigarta & Salwa from the time of Alexander & beyond. Remember the sixteen Janapadas extant at that time.

Learn from ur history & try not to repeat it. There is no north south divide. Hindi as we know it today is not native to us but most of us have adopted it bcoz we need an unifying factor, since it can't be hinduism as we r a secular nation. Every kingdom has had their glory days. The ancient kingdoms of Vanga, Kalinga & Kashmira were mighty once as equals to the kingdom of Magadha. But they all perished with time. The Southern kingdoms also went thru ups & downs mostly due to infighting as well.

Guys, u should stop fighting with each other! It's TRUE that South India has still kept the flag of Hinduism high. Never mind the DMK, they r mostly christians or low caste hindus subverted by money & power. U should know that it was due to the mighty cholas & the pandyas that muslims never dared venture beyond the Aravallis until later. Unfortunately, it was also the infighting between the marathas & rajputs & later between the sikhs & rajputs that helped the muslim & british cause in India.

Self esteme should surely be from and stem from our creation by God.

Certainly it sould never be founded upon an egoistical ideas of self importance, either interms of a perticular faith or national sense of self; but, should stem from our creation by the supreme being-what ever name you use to call to him.

Stem esteme should never be based on egoism! But our value as children of god that we all are.
