You can tell he'd just as soon not get wet, but he can plan far enough ahead to know he just needs to lick his fur dry afterwards and there's no harm done. Most cats don't get to that stage.
I wonder if he's figured out why the taste of the water gradually gets "cattier" the longer he stands in it?
Perhaps he would if he was in the wild. We don't have fish, and he is an F2. His grandfather was a wild Asian leopard cat, but his grandmother and mother were domestic cats.
That's good that you don't have any fish. Pet store fish might be treated with chemicals that could be harmful to cats or people. I wonder if there is a place to get fish that haven't been treated.
