hi, i wanna buy a banjo,,,i know nothing abt it...need suggestion...which banjo should i buy,,??? 4 string or 5 or 6 strings???

@upolislam If you want to play Irish music you need a 4 string banjo, called a tenor banjo which has either 19 or 17 frets. (not a longer necked plectrum banjo which has 21 or 22 frets!)

@upolislam Sorry I seem to have misunderstood your orginal question. i assumed to wanted to play the banjo as a melody instrument for irish music. Yes you can play the 6 string banjos as you would a guitar if you're playing chords. I wouldn't recommend it for accompanying irish tunes.......you may get some disgruntled players as it will be VERY overpowering!!
