  • Why is it that when people don't understand something they feel the need to invent magical, supernatural bullshit in order to make themselves feel better about being ignorant?

Consciousness has already been explained anyhow, so you can no longer even hide under the banner of "science hasn't explained it yet".

Consciousness is an emergent property of the sum of all our physical parts; atoms, chemicals, cells, organs, etc.

Much like how liquid is an emergent property of fluid atom motion..

  • @Wittgensteinism Wrong! Consciousness 'resides' outside of the brain and actually forms the brain from the implicate order

  • @JamesJTraitz If consciousness resided outside of the brain, then doing something to the brain wouldn't affect consciousness. Think logically plz.

You're asserting the connection between the brain and consciousness to be starting with consciousness and then extending to the brain, right? I take it that's what "consciousness...forms the brain" means.

So if that's true, then we can test it.

And in fact, it has been. And all tests show the reverse; that affecting the brain affects consciousness.

  • @Wittgensteinism A portion of consciousness operates through the brain; the brain is a biotranducer which generates a program - much like a computer..the far vaster reaches of consciousness exist beyond the space-time cone...

  • He talks about consciousness, which is not material possessions.... but look at his suit and room background.... very unconscious then... :)

  • @pavhilafliert I wear it for the benefit of your Tonal

  • I was a bit turned off at first by the "nice stuff" this man has acquired for himself while delivering a a message that goes against materialistic overconsumption. But looking over it again, it's just a piano (if he or a family member is a pianist he kinda needs one) and the rest of the house is just a nice, uncluttered house (who doesn't want to live in a decent house?). I don't see much hypocrisy here.

    Anyway, good food for thought.

  • i completely agree.

  • @JamesJTraitz I doubt it.

  • @JamesJTraitz HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • Looks like you have done a pretty good job collecting material possessions. Bet you want a little more for each of those books your selling too.
