Theres a similar technique old skool car mechanics use on rusted bolts but as it's cooling down they hold a burning candle near it or something. The idea is that as it's cooling down it sucks in some wax which apparently loosens it up no end.

@PLBIV OOOOOOHHHHHH.... It all clicks now. Unfortunately when I started grad school I left the city and moved out to the boonies. Plus, you can totally do this, I have faith in you :)
