And to jeffbruin1, please lay off of the drugs. You obviously have never owned a rotary engine and have based all of your knowledge of them on false imaginary ideations that you formulated soley on your own or with the help from another redneck. I've had 3 rx7s now and the two crapped out at around 250k miles with no engine work at all. Name a piston engine that goes for 250k without needing a head gasket or new rings, other than a Honda. My current rx is at 120k and has only low compression.

My god... How many un educated people are there here? It was a damn flywheel not an apex seal. When an apex seal blows its nothing like a piston engine. Do you want to know what happens.... nothing. Nothing happens when you blow an apex seal you just lose compression in one rotor housing. Which means a car with a blown apex seal is still drivable. Nothing like a blown engine in which a piston engine car is done for. Before you trash things please learn the basics of operations of a rotary.

After the first 'pop' he rev'd harder? figures, that's what I'd do too...

Go the EA

All the people hating on rotary must have got smoked by a few 7's on the road.

@vallebuilder nascars have built up internals so they can handle doing that they are made to do that most cars are not if theyre made for driving on the road
-
@vallebuilder aint no apex seals blown there. was flywheel
-
now me and the master mechanic have to take apart the rotor housing and replace the apex seals you fried...
-
@vallebuilder but it dont have piston rings

One of the best burn outs i ever seen! :D Fabulous!
if you rev a v8 to 8000 for to long itll blow also...if you take proper care of a rotary they will last.....and a rebuild of a rotary is a lot cheaper than buying 8 slugs 16 valves a cam and all the other stuff that rotaries dont need...they only have three moving parts that is two rotors and the crank shaft[eccentric shaft]no cams no valves no timing chains no pistons...they just use ports like a two stroke

pistons, or rotary, they all suck when they break.
