Testing to see if it's possible to play and record outside. Apparently it is.
It was a bit too cold so my fingers weren't as quick as they should have been thus resulting in some mistakes. Don't let it bother you too much :)

This was done in a single take and I didn't have a chance to try for a second time because my sound recording laptop's battery died soon after this video.

Before you ask, here's a little gear list for you:
-On the stand: Korg EMX, Korg ESX, Futureretro Revolution and the noisy Phonix MM1002 mixer (I didn't want to take the mixer/effects rack with me).
-On the ground: Laptop with goldwave to record the sound.
-Closeup camera Canon EOS 500D (Canon 50mm f1.8)
-Overview camera Canon EOS 550D (Canon 70-200mm L f4)
-One long extension cord
-a piece of plywood and a stand

  • Buenisimo!!!!!!!

  • recycle with your own samples then import, I got ESX first, and I found it to be quite limiting with only 2 KB parts, got EMX next, you really do need both... But all that aside, as someone has already said Harri you really have mastered those tribes, always loved ya style and ya videos as well man ! I haven't touched mine for 2 years as I've been getting my head around logic but would love to do some type of show where by ableton is triggering pattern change messages to all my machines... ?

  • Great idea to try it outside! I can almost imagine riding in a helicopter over a beautiful mountainous region or riding in a speed boat over the waves in the Atlantic. Very nice, chill beat, dude!

  • @buchanan82 I Try to use both of the machines equally, but the EMX always steals the show. :)

With cut and record I mean playing some old records, vinyl, cd or mp3 and finding good sounding parts. I cut them so that they loop. And I actually a very small portion of the sound as a stab or as a special effect type of sound.

I don't like to use long samples of anything someone else made because it just doesn't feel right.

Trim out 90% of the sample + reverse + filter + add FXs = new sounds :)

  • Thanks...you definately seem quite happy with the EMX as a synth as I notice you use it more than the ESX.

Wehn you mention "cut and record", are you referring to sampling softsynths?

Keep the videos coming, very inspiring.
