All about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by war

It Just Wasn't Right © words and music by Doug Payne 2007©
It's another day and I cant sit still.
I believe it's because I was taught to kill.
I've left my wife. I lost my home.
the rest of my life might be all alone

I remember the day. We were all unsure
Did the president say he was starting a war?
In the great debate in the big white hall,
another mistake and a crazy call.

We all got a feeling that it isn't right,
on the day they were leaving and every lonely night.

There's a fresh green lawn a white stone crossed
a new baby born to a mother who's lost.
They sent her man home in a plastic bag
his name in a box on a little brass tag.

We all got a feeling that it isn't right,
on the day they were leaving and every lonely night.

It's another day and I cant sit still.
I believe it's because I was taught to kill.
I've left my wife. I lost my home.
the rest of my life might be all alone

  • My father served in the Second world war. I didn't know what was wrong when he came home I just knew he wasn't right. I look back now and I realize he was suffering from Post Tramatic stress disorder. Wars kill more than just the people at the front.

  • In order to kill another human we have to be messed up in the head. Psychopaths do it. Narcissistic personalities do it. Decent people have to mess up the mind to do it.

  • I agree with all yo have said here and thanks

  • I swore into the Air Force last December. I am awaiting active duty. I fortunately have the cahnce to resign for jobs. I have been urged by friends of mine to stay out and write a book and write music and inspire others. I will not be crushed if the Air Force decides they do not need me. A touching song with a strong message. Thank you.

  • Doug, I could write a book. Some people will never understand, and some will never care. And mean while life goes on...waiting for the next trigger, the next opportunity to self medicate by those who suffer from this horrible reality that has taken hold so deep within their soul and their brain. They are all around us, if we care to look, as I know you have. Once again my friend, spot on.

  • Great song man 5 stars!

  • ...very sad !

  • One of my favorites by yours mate, aint it strange how songs that deal with real issues often fall short of the praise the deserve. PTSD is very very very real and often it's seldom diagnosed to those whom need it most.

  • This song brings back alot of memerys...I was just glad when it was over in 1974...they all got to come home...never to be the same...my friends were lost to me for ever...cause they weren't the same...and some didn't come back at all...lost to us forever....when we ever learn...we're still at it...

  • lost souls for man's profit...lovely song...thought I had heard all of your songs here's another I missed...

  • Doug, you have a gentle style that communicates volumes on difficult subjects. Thank you for your kindness and compassion. We need more awareness on this epidemic of war. Liz

  • GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT DOUG!!!!
