  • What a super effort! I've built a couple of homemade engines, but none as large as this or that run anywhere near as well!! Are plans for this super engine (carb and muffler too!) available or going to be available? I'd love a copy. Again well done!!! Guys like you help stem the tide of those dreadful e****ric models.

  • Cheers, mate. You are exactly correct - we do need to reassert the sheer joy and romance of oily, noisy, warm, evocative, quirky, non-conformist, individiualises, thuriferous live fuel aeromodelling. MInd you those words, except for the oily bit, just as well describe any ruggedly individial Aussie I even met too! Do yo live in the next street to my mate Brian Winch? I hear thet Australia isn't that big... Tee Hee Thanks again, mate.

  • I too, if i managed to get a lathe would love the plans for such an engine :), how about, you get them out into an RCM&E instead of a plane?

  • The plan is to make the drawings available, free, in RCME. However, at the moment I'm

    learning the CAD package.

    Cheers,

    A

  • Any news about the plans? I'm keen to try and make an engine like this. If you haven't managed to get them onto CAD, how about photocopies of what you do have? (will pay of course). They will be better than what I have (Nothing!). Can't find half decent plans on t'interweb.

  • As we speak the Firefly .46 is in the hands of the CAD Man. We hope the plans will come out late this year, 2009, in RCME. I built the engine as I went along, with the metal stocks I had to hand. Unfortunately, there was no plan as such, so I can't help you - yet.

  • Well done, just saw your comments on the Barton Website (welcome by the way) thought I would have a look. I am impressed. Nice work.

  • Many thanks for the reply. I'll check each copy of RCME with bated breath! Keep up the good work in the magazine.

  • any updates on the plans for this engine? i was thinking of scaling it down possibly and make it a 25 sized

  • I talked to my dad about the lathe you talked about in the other youtube video and he says if we had the money it would be a useful tool to have :) so hopefully if i get a job or something i might be able to get one, one thing my dad did say was you didn't talk about the auto carriage advance, is that good on the lathe?
