The BM-30 Smerch (Tornado) or 9K58 is a Soviet multiple rocket launcher. The system is designed to defeat manpower, armored and soft-skinned materiel in concentration areas, artillery batteries, command posts and ammunition depots. It was created in 1986 and entered service in the Soviet Army in 1989.[1]

Components:
rockets (in containers);
9A52-2 modernized launch vehicle;
transloader;
automated fire control equipment;
set of arsenal equipment;
training facilities.

The 300mm rockets with a firing range of 70 and 90 km and various warheads have been developed for the Smerch MLRS.

The 9A52-2 vehicle with the automated system ensures:
delivery of fire from an unsurveyed fire position;
laying of the launch tube cluster with the crew staying in the cabin and without using aiming points;
autonomous determination of an azimuth of the launch tube cluster's longitudinal axis;
visual representation of graphical information for the launch tube cluster laying, the route of vehicle movement and location as well as a point of destination and direction of movement on the video terminal;
increase in MLRS survivability owing to reduced time of staying at a fire position;
increased comfort for the laying operator, especially in adverse weather conditions and at night;
increased independent operation owing to the navigation and survey equipment, which allows the vehicle to rapidly change fire positions and move autonomously;
reduction of the combat crew.

  • too bad for you guys your population is shrinking by the day, the region where the population is growing are the thugs in the caucasus, extremists and crap and so you can spend like 800 billion in military but you need more than that. You need growth of your population and not by muslims who arent prepared to fight for you.

    In 1800 the average amount of children for one russian family was believed to be 9.7, that was the biggest grow ever known in human history. Now it just 0.9. Shame on you.

  • 500 miles. 0.o try 70 . CEP of 400 m. Crap system, the TEL is freaking huge.

  • @barrygoldwater100 Nobody knows how many of these Russia has but it is believed to be around 300. These things are scary, powerful missiles that can hit targets 500 miles away.

  • In russia We only make Explosives and steel goes into Tanks!

    US Tards

  • @barrygoldwater100 Of course. NATO military all i network.... but i think Russian enough smart to hide their military invention... do you agree?

  • sorry for posting the same question twice

  • Can someone tell me how many are in service with the Russian military (and how you know this). It's always next to impossible for me to find reliable information on the Russian Military inventory.

    Thanks

  • Awesome. Could you tell me anything about the total number in service (or point me in the direction of a good source for this information). It's always painfully hard for me to find accurate information on Russian military inventory.

    thanks

  • @bestamerica here to help ;)
