The most common question I get from people back home is: "What's China like?"

  • When I originally moved to NYC I was living in Queens (Jackson Heights) and then Harlem for 9 months. it too felt like a foreign world.

I buy those popscicles in Brooklyn all the time now.

    When did you graduate College?

  • @ratubaworld I graduated like 2 years ago. I graduated college, then immediately moved to China about 3 months later. Really scary and fun.

  • OMFG This is HILARIOUS!!!

I found you're portfolio via 8-bit Starcraft, which was also pure genius.

Your song choices are fucking hilarious. I was cracking up at the clothes hanging part. Reminds me of playing shadows of the empire for N64. that game was so frustrating.

What the hell are you doing in China tho?? Do you have a job animating or something?

    I'm an animator as well

Good luck man! I'm gonna follow you now :D

  • @ratubaworld Thanks, sorry for the slow reply. I'm an English teacher. It's a really good job. You get an apartment, get paid quite a bit, plane ticket paid for, health insurance, all kinds of stuff. Plus you get a lot of free time and vacation to do things like travel or work on art. For example I'm on vacation right now, I have been for about a week, and I'll continue to be on vacation until February 17.

  • lol I was fascinated by ur 8b sc animation XD btw how is ur job going in china?

  • @1888lky Sorry for the extremely extremely late reply. It's awesome. I like my job a lot. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to explore another part of the world in a more intimate way than being a tourist for a few days.

  • why do you live in china?

  • hey was this video in harbin?

  • @octopus1138 And sorry I didn't even read your comment where you are explaining everything that you are doing in China--- being an English teacher! Feel free to delete my comment at will.

  • @octopus1138 Cool, so Astrill lets you get through? That's nice. I'm not familiar with VPNs. I'm glad you can get through and do all your facebook and stuff. Just curious-- what is it that you are doing in China?

  • @gorglefrumpf np. Facebook, youtube, twitter, all popular sites are all blocked in China and there are Chinese versions of them that people use instead. For instance, there is no farmville, but there is something called QQ farm (because they use an instant messaging program called QQ). Also skype and all other forms of VOIP are supposed to be blocked soon.

I use a VPN that I pay for called Astrill. A lot of people (including natives) use a program created by a Chinese man called Freegate.

  • hey man thanks for the video.. I've been researching a lot about China and this helped me to get an idea of what a "normal" day is like.

I noticed you were using the internet, facebook and it looked like internet when you were watching star trek as well-- is it true that certain sites are blocked over there? I've heard that the Chinese government blocks websites and I even heard a rumor that in China you are only allowed to play 3 hours of WoW a day or something like that if you have it.

  • GOOD MORNING OWEN DENNIS.
