How may minutes of this excercise do you think is required for an adequate workout.

This depends on your level of conditioning. Start with 30 seconds of jumping followed by 90 seconds rest. Continue this for 10 minutes.
Then work your way up to 60 seconds of jumping followed by 60 seconds of rest. Build up to 12 minutes. Good luck!
