Did not chart, but released as a single with "Love Is A Woman" on the other side in 1958. This was Ray's sixth single. The fifth was "Dream Way" backed with "I'll Always Want You Near" which also didn't chart. I think "Richer Than I" was the first of Ray's great recordings, and set the stage for the next one, "The Wonder Of You" which would finally place Ray on the charts. "Richer Than I" has my pick as one of Ray's best.

  • They say that Ray Peterson had a four octave range. But in wich song is that to be heard best?

  • You could try "I Could Have Loved You So Well".

  • For a treat, flip this 45 over and listen to Love Is A Woman. A nice piece of Belgium Popcorn. Not a 4 octave song but still great non the less.

  • I listened to "Fever" and I must say that Ray takes the high register very well.

Now please name me a song where he goes to the low keys too.

    Thanks by the way..

  • @hartommitch

you could also try "Fever," a real early hit of his.

  • thanks a lots

  • I listened to that song. I like it very much but I can't really hear where he shows off the range. They said Roy Orbison had a three octave range and it seems that he shows that off in many songs like Only The Lonely or In Dreams where he starts in the low register and ends in falsetto. Is there a song Ray does the same because I'm very eager to hear somone sing in 4 octaves.

  • I agree.
