I had to watch this video for a Culture, Race & Media class I'm currently taking. It really does make you question reality and wonder if all you can do is assume that EVERY man and woman you see in an ad is never what they truly appear to be.

Most people do not believe that advertisements are true, but that knowledge still has not affected the impact advertising has. Its just as affective as ever.

The real issue here is the message, more than the media. Crushing woman's self esteem so they can sell them things is the real issue.

@laallaal75 that is why you have slimming filters on cameras... not to mention ones which hide your skin's imperfections.. Then you have the lighting and makeup itself. It works wonders, believe me! <--- photoshop user

the problem is not only that these particular women don't look like that in real life - I know there are some non-celebreties who really are beautiful and wouldn't need photoshopping. The problem is,that even before photoshop existed,the industry didn't allow much for variety in body size and shape.Society sets a standard of what women should look like but only a minority of women look like that naturally.You can't set a standard for people - humans come in all shapes and sizes.
