DEMO DAY: Every September (at the beginning of each school year), Los Altos HIgh School in Los Altos, CA hosts a "Demo Day". All high school students who have Speech and/or Debate teams at their schools can come to learn about various different Speech and Debate events by watching demos of them. Four (out of the five) different Debate events were presented at Demo Day. This is a recording of one of them, called Public Forum Debate (usually shortened to "Pofo" or "PF").

DEBATE: In Pofo, there are two competitors on each team. One team argues in support of a resolution (they are "Affirmative"), and the other team argues against it (they are "Negative"). The first debater you will hear is the first speaker on the AFFIRMATIVE side of this debate.
Normally, Pofo debates are longer. The constructives (the first 2 speeches you will hear, one from the Aff and one from the Neg) are normally 4 minutes long each, but for the purposes of the day, they were shortened to 3 minutes. Various other parts of the debate were shortened, and both the 2nd crossfire AND the summary speeches were not presented (and thus are not shown in the video).

RESOLUTION: For this demo, the debaters argued the April 2011 Pofo topic, which was "Resolved: The United States federal government should permit the use of financial incentives to encourage organ donation." This means that people who donate organs would either get paid OR compensated for doing so.
