Born out of love (and disappointment), "The Day The Season Died" was inspired by the August collapse of the 2009 Chicago Cubs. The melody, of course, is "American Pie" by the great Don McLean. We hope you enjoy the song, and remember, if we didn't love them so much, it wouldn't hurt so bad.

  • Isn't this EVERY season since 1945?? LOL!

  • Some needs to write the Day Ron Santo Died

  • @kchoma017 ok, my friend, thanks a lot for the explanation, I've seen more videos from cub fans and I can understand all the dissapointment involved; just go on keeping the faith and u will see good days coming by; there maybe years and years of coming empty handed, but I'm pretty sure that when the championship comes, all of u will party the hell out, erasing all the difficult years, just like we did....go on my cub friends!

  • @johnstone2010—After each home game, the Cubs fly a flag indicating the result of that day's game. If the Cubs win, the flag is white with a blue W. If they lose, the flag is blue with a white L. The tradition dates back decades and decades, before the Internet and before 24-hour news. It was the team's way of telling fans in the neighborhood (or those passing by on the "el" train) what happened in the day's game.

  • By the way, I see in the video a flag with an "L"; what does it stands for?....big hugs to all of u, and keep on the faith, my friends !

  • I am a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox and the LA Dodgers, but I admire the spirit and passion of the Cubs; remember there were great cub teams and players; I feel truly bad and discouraging atmosphere around here which certainly I can understand; the only thing I can say to all of u cub fans is that don't stop believing; it carried out for us, to take away 86 years of empty hands by passing over hated Yank's and a deficit of 3-0 and later the Card's in 2004, and again in 2007 vs Rox; u can do it

  • @miketriharder — Thanks, Mike. It was a labor of love, and love's labors lost. Go Cubs!

  • from a true Cubbies fan, well done. That is awesome. I will spread it around. I

  • The day the Cubs season died was Henry's tunnel vision towards Peavy And Lou's we need a switch hitter named Bradley. A switch hitter is still an ass no matter what uni he wears.
