hmmmm, interesting & noble effort. Musically all those angular chord sounds don't speak to the spirit of the drum music. The drums are celebrating & "up" but the music is stuck in that avant guard flat 5th modal odd time sig jazz thing. (i know that's not a style hahaha) Mbalax itself has melody but they didn't incorporate it here especially when the woman sang. (i know it's not the whole show here) But it is GREAT that they did it together. very very cool!!!

I think that it takes away from the essence of Sabar...it would be like adding lima beans to gumbo where only a few may eat it but many would not.

Not a good mix at all. It's very difficult to combine American rock/jazz ensembles and electric instruments with Sabar. You lose the essence of both styles. Youssou N'Dor has made the best of this combination. Good effort but the guys playing American style don't seem to understand much about the essence and style of Sabar.
