@Dragonmantis36 are you stupid? They aren't burning themselves for the Dalai Lama and certainly not because he is telling them to. They use it to protest mainly acts of violence. It was used during the vietnam war to protest both the war and treatment of Buddhists but the Roman Catholics in South Vietnam. It is used now in Tibet to protest Chinese rule and oppression in Tibet. It is viewed as a nobel and selfless act and is not condoned by their religion because they see it as a for of violence.
