@thut69 It's certainly not what it seems. Anyone versed in magic or mentalism tricks could tell you at least a dozen ways this trick could be reliably done. Your explanation is a complete oversimplification of any of those tricks and frankly is somewhat retarded. Try doing this yourself and see how just going the opposite way works out for you.

@Zotov13 People have driven with blind folds on for magic. People have acted like they can not see while knowing where audience members hide objects. The story changes, but the tricks are not new. What often sells people is that they really can not see though the bag, blindfold or what is used as a blindfold before the performer puts it on. Derren Brown's explanation gives people plenty to look up & fill in. Others have driven with more over their eyes than blindfolds.

I just had an apiphany!

Imagine some simple skill that you mastered - like remembering multiplication table. Then you would find boring multiplying small numbers, right? But!, if you were at risk of walking off a cliff if you made multiplication error, this would be exciting again! And this is it for Derren. For him this is nothing more than putting some fun into boring skill.

He's good, he was losing the initiative, that would have been bad. He had it back within a few seconds (look when the ex-SAS enters the control room). Look how he's testing his truthfull talking by asking small questions which cant be lied about. (shoo size etc). He is creating a pattern of truth, which makes it hard to tell a lie. If he does lie he'll have a hard time which makes it easier to spot
