Don't let the church heirarchy make you believe that they can stand in between you and your God.
Take the gospel on your own terms.
You are happy gay, right?
So God answered your prayers...He didn't change you, and you are better for it.
God in his infinite wisdom knew what was best for you, so you don't need to harbor resentment for Him, just the leadership, and their homophobia.
I think if He answered our prayers exactly, we would be miserable.
One of these days the church will wake up.
