When I hear him start singing this melody I just get a feeling inside. Somebody shoulda grabbed a hold of him, strapped the MF down and saved his life somehow! But sadly no one is too blame but right here is some real talent lost

Thanks for sharing all this wonderfull music,
I was a youngster in the 70's and the early 80's (old boy)
I just love Phil lynnot and Thin Lizzys music, I still have most of their music on vinyl
I remember an interview with Phil and a song i haven't been able to fine ever after
It was mentioned as the protest song and Phil had to get drunk to find the agression, it was recorded 04.00 - 05.00 in the morning
Can anyone help me to find this magical piece ?

Reminds me of JADED by Aerosmith

Tears in my eyes.
What a band!!

I remember way back in grade 10 a friend lent me Thunder and Lightning. I started listening to it, little did I know my life had changed permanently.
When I got to the 4 track on the tape, The Holy War, I was hooked. Unfortunately, less than 4 years later Phil passed away.

Dedication was written by Laurence Archer who toured with Lizzy and was also with Philo in Grand Slam after lIzzy's break up, just thought I would share that info.Long Live Philo!!!!!!!!

'Recorded live, in the studio'. That means it was recorded in the studio All At Once, As A Band.
Not one instrument at a time, then added together, which is pretty standard unfortunately. Therefore, no audience except the people in the booth. Most of the best recordings Ever were recorded live in the studio, imho.

I must have listened to this song atleast 25 times in the past week & each time I get chills......one word MAGIC!

I'm glad you like it. I have a better quality version of this. I should put it up.

Thanks for posting, BSF. My two favorite groups are Thin Lizzy and Black Sabbath. I don't know which I like better, so I just say that TL is my favorite rock band, and BS is my favorite metal band. :)

That's pretty much what I say anymore too. I always get asked which one I like more.

Awesome! Thanks for posting this. Who plays the instruments on the 1991 "official release"?

Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. They used Phil's bass and vocal.
This is actually quite a shitty copy compared to another copy I received later.
