In 2008, 25,000 people were diagnosed with cancer and 11,000 mothers, fathers, children and friends lost their lives to cancer in our region. Cancer is the number-one killer in the United States for people under the age of 85 and impacts every Kansan and Missourian. To help make a difference, the LIVESTRONG Army of Kansas City is hosting the first annual Tour de BBQ to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. This uniquely flavored cycling event is held in conjunction with the American Royals annual barbeque competition. Proceeds benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation and The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
