  • Fantastic.

  • @zenmachinefilms Thanks!

  • @andybliss1 Thanks so much!

  • Genius! 'Bliss' captures it quite correctly!

  • @SKOTP69 Thank you so much for your kind words.

  • Great performance. I'd pay to see it live! I posted this on FB a couple of weeks ago; no-one admitted to liking it, but I see the hits have jumped.

  • @hhspchh Thanks for the "virtual" support by reposting.

  • why try and explain a song? Listen to or write and perform one. This isn't techno without a bassline. This isn't inferior or superior to Phillip Glass. It's Steve Reich, this is music and no-one here is in a position to say otherwise. Your opinion counts for you. We are here to listen to Steve Reich and talk about that experience. Go start a blog. No you've disturbed and interrupted me enough. Be gone.

  • ohhhh it makes me craaaazyy :O

  • Listen to Waiting Man by King Crimson from 1982. Is this just a coincidence? I know Fripp was influenced by Reich, but what about the other way around, too?

  • call me dull, but it seems a bit monochromatic to me. i like a beat that people can dance to, especially from a marimba, this sounds like techno without a bassline to me.

  • It takes a little while to memorize it :/

  • @nickman287 No, Phillip Glass is simplicity at its best. This is really annoying.

  • Saw this live, at Cambridge corn exchange and got told off for getting up and dancing!

    Magical.

  • @ofatheroartificer so? Even though something isn't super complicated, it doesn't mean it's not smart and good. This here is a prime example of simplicity at its best.

  • @ofatheroartificer Part II: This is beautiful, evocative music. Get with it or get out.

  • @ofatheroartificer Did you know everything is a competition? Everyone should always compare music to other music because it is imperative to make lists of 'the best' and 'the worst'. No. Shut the h**l up. No one came here to listen to you. Who cares if its 'been done before'. Reich acknowledges that this isn't his own idea--there's Balinese and other southeast asian influence and yeah, his contemporaries influenced him too. Not a single person here is interested in your pretentious bashing.
