Babies and little children arrive at the Nutrition Centers, bone-thin. Brought from the slums, they are fed six times a day until medically stabilized. For the next 6-8 months, each child receives loving care around the clock, along with healthy meals, play time and educational activities. Once recovered, the children return to their parents who have been taught in weekly nutrition classes how to cook low-cost, healthy meals. Cross supports the operating costs of Las Mercedes.
