haha you didnt offend me. and yea i totally get what youre saying. outro and intro are both great. they both resonate with me in two totally different ways.. but then again thats exactly why i love dave matthews.wish more people my age would listen to him. i would do anything to have a group of freinds who listen to this. cause its not just music its real substance and its epic sounding enough to have two strangers sharing a conversation about it. DAVE MATTHEWS FOR LIFE!!!!

see, its hard to say, because the intro is rarely ever used before the outro of american baby, its usually an intro for another song, just to get vibe and emotion going in the crowd, but when placed exactly before the outro, i feel its gets the crowd pumped up so much as it climaxes and its use of like 12 words is amazing....i hope i dont offend you...so please keep listening to dmb...cant wait for the new album this year

@berkleychiphi im a die hard dmb fan and i disagree with u. the outro is the meat and potatoes of this song. intro is amazing no doubt. outro is where its at

if the world was ending and I had one choice of a song to listen to I would say this song is my number 1 choice:)

Hands down one of the greatest songs ever. Usually after so many plays I'll get bored with a particular song but I've been listening to this one for several years and I love it just as much today as I did the first time I heard it.

@esw02161 For me it's definitely about a girl.

These guys are some badass musicians. I love the jam at the end.

I always thought this song was about 9/11 and how we have to remember what makes this country one of the greatest if not the greatest countries to live in. Was I wrong? Anyway, great song. Love DMB.

This is a really good song. And the message is very relevant. The baby in this song, IMHO, is the extremely young USA. I believe this song is about the destruction of the freedom and ideals our country was founded on.
I've been a DMB fan since 1992 when I first heard Under The Table & Dreaming. I missed them live for the first time this past year ONLY because they didn't "officially" tour. It was a fun run of almost 20 years seeing them live when they came to my town. I probably spent upwards of $3,000 buying tickets for family & friends to come with me...and I...WOULDN'T...TRADE...ONE...PENNY for the memories made at those shows. Thanks to DMB and The Warehouse for keeping me a fan.

i hate dmb posers that say they like this song and when I ask them about the intro, and they're like huh?....i think the intro is the meat and potatoes of this song, i simply love dave and his band...this isnt my favorite song, probably top 25.
